A mobile court of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has fined three shops in Chittagong to Tk55,000 for selling fans at a high price amid increasing demand due to ongoing heatwave.

A team of DNCRP conducted a raid in the Rifle Club area of the port city.

The raid was conducted around 11:30am on Monday.

During the raid, M/S Shah Jalal Electronics was fined Tk20,000, SH Electronics Tk5,000, and Look Electronics Tk30,000.

Foyez Ullah, deputy director of DNCRP, Chittagong, led the raid.

He said that the demand for all fans including charger fans has increased due to intense heat across the country.

Taking advantage of this, the shopkeepers have increased the prices of fans in wholesale and retail shops.
