  • Body kept at hospital morgue
Update : 15 Apr 2024, 07:05 PM

A local Union Parishad member was shot to death allegedly by miscreants at Pakuria Bazar in Madhabdi upazila of Narsingdi district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Rubel Ahmed, 34, member of Ward No 8 of Amdia Union Parishad and son of Shahjahan Mia of Bhuiyam village.

Quoting local people, Fazle Rabbi, sub-inspector of Madhabdi police station, said a group of assailants, riding in a private car, intercepted Rubel when he was heading towards his house around 1:45pm by a motorbike and opened fire on him.

When Rubel fell from the motorbike, the miscreants slit the throat of Rubel and left the place after confirming his death.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue.

Rubel had been at loggerheads with his rival Emrul in the Union Parishad election and police suspect some connection to that political rivalry behind the murder in broad daylight.

Narsingdi Superintendent of Police (SP) Mostafizur Rahman said that the police visited the spot after receiving information about the killing of UP members. The body was recovered and sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
