Workers of Keya Knit Composite factory block road demanding dues

The workers of a garment factory in Gazipur staged a demonstration on Monday demanding their due salary and Eid bonus.

The workers of Keya Knit Composite Limited factory started a demonstration around 6am blocking the local Konabari-Kashimpur road.

Konabari police station Sub-Inspector Saidur Rahman said the workers were protesting on the road demanding arrears. 

The agitating workers of Keya Knit Composite Limited said the factory authorities did not clear the salary for February and there are 8,000 workers in the factory. 

They said they will continue their protest till the salary, Eid bonus and annual leave allowances are paid.

Sumon Mia, administrative officer of Keya Knit Composite Limited, said only February salaries are due. “I will try to solve the problem by talking to the workers.”

Gazipur Industrial Police Sub-Inspector Enamul Haque said Konabari police station officers and Industrial Police are on the spot. They are trying to control the situation.
