Over 200 workers of TRZ Garment Factory Ltd protested in front of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments in Tongi, Gazipur, demanding unpaid wages on Wednesday afternoon.

Mosharraf Hossain, additional assistant superintendent of Gazipur Industrial Police, confirmed the information.

According to the police official, the TRZ clothing factory authorities claimed to have paid 75% of the February salaries but failed to settle the entire amount. However, while 25% of the workers' wages remain outstanding, the staff members have not been paid for four months. Both workers and staff are participating in the protest.

Some workers said that the factory management paid a portion of their February salaries in two instalments. They are still awaiting payment for the remaining February salaries, March salaries, Eid bonuses, and annual leave allowances.

Ziaul Kabir Khokon, president of the Garment Workers Trade Union Centre (Gazipur district branch), emphasized that workers are owed their salaries, Eid bonuses, and holiday allowances. They are protesting in front of the Mill Factory Directorate, demanding immediate settlement of their dues.

TRZ Garment Factory (Director) Mohammad Apu could not be reached for comment on the matter.
