A Chhatra League leader was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in Tangail's Nagarpur upazila Monday night.
The deceased is Zahid Khan Jhalak, organizing secretary of the upazila unit Chhatra League.
According to local sources, Zahid came under attack when he was returning home after offering Tarabi prayers at a mosque.
After receiving information, Zahid was rescued from the spot and taken to the upazila health complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
In this regard, Nagarpur police station Officer-in-charge (OC) HM Jasim Uddin said: "Efforts are on to identify and arrest those involved. The body of the deceased has bruise marks in different places. The body will be sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy on Tuesday morning."
