Students at Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College and Hospital in Sirajganj are set to resume classes on Thursday, following a period of protest where they boycotted classes.

The students were demanding the punishment of Dr Raihan Sharif, the accused teacher in the shooting of their classmate, Arafat Abir Tamal.

Principal Amirul Hossain held a discussion with the students around 3pm on Wednesday, emphasizing the potential harm to their education if they continued to boycott classes.

He informed them that action had already been taken against Dr Raihan Sharif, who had been sent to jail by the court and suspended by the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME).

During the meeting, students expressed concerns about preventing similar incidents in the future and discussed their safety.

The principal assured them of measures to address these concerns. Subsequently, the students confirmed their commitment to regular attendance in classes and exams starting from the following day.
