Workers of the HBS Apparels Limited factory in the Sataish area of Tongi, Gazipur carried out a protest procession and observed a work abstention over salary dues.
The agitated workers said they had been demanding to the authorities for several days to pay their salaries for January.
Following this, the workers of the factory stopped production on Tuesday, they said.
Around 700–750 workers took part in the procession.
The workers also said their demand is to pay their salary by the 10th of every month and to withdraw the new administrative officer.
The owners claimed that the workers vandalized the office.
Industrial Police Additional Superintendent of Police Mosharraf Hossain said police were deployed to bring the situation back to normal. Besides, the workers are negotiating with the owners to solve the problem.
