A madrasa teacher has been sent to jail in a case filed in connection with raping a boy students in his madrasa in Comilla’s Lalmai area.

The accused teacher is Ibrahim, 22.

Ibrahim was detained on Tuesday. Later, he was sent to jail following a case filed against him on Wednesday under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

Lalmai police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdullah Al Mahfuz confirmed the information.

The OC said: "Ibrahim was sent to jail through court on Wednesday. Necessary arrangements are being made for DNA testing of him and the rape survivor."

On Tuesday, the father of the rape survivor informed the rape incident to South Belghor Union Parishad Chairman Liakat Hossain Bhuiyan.

Following the instruction of the UP chairman, when a team of village police went to detain the teacher, they faced obstruction from the Tahfizul Quranil Karim International Madrasa authority.

Despite this, the village police successfully brought the teacher to the Union Parishad office.

On information, Lalmai police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Monir Hossen detained him following an order of the OC.

Later, the case was filed.

UP chairman Shah Alam said: "On Saturday at 10am, Ibrahim lured the boy into his room and raped him. The child had previously reported being raped several times. Despite the child repeatedly informing Maulana Saiful Islam, the founder of the madrasa, about the abuse, no action was taken."

On Saturday, the student again fell victim to the same incident and fled the madrasa to inform his family.

After the incident, the signboard of the madrasa was removed.
