A Gopalganj court sent five madrasa teachers to jail over a rape case of a minor student at Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court sent them to jail after police presented madrasa teachers Ismail Hossain, Awlad Hossain alias Asaduzzaman, Masum Billah, Mohammad Al Amin and Amena Begum in court on Friday.
Muksudpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashraful Alam said that the rape survivor’s father filed a case accusing six madrasa teachers on Thursday night.
“Arrested madrasa teachers confessed that the rape took place in Ismail Hossain’s room. They helped Ismail Hossain as well,” said the OC.
Another accused madrasa teacher Mijanur Rahman Miju is absconding. Operation is going on to arrest him, the OC said.
A minor girl was reportedly raped by a madrasa teacher at Bashbaria Parijaan Begum Mohila Koumi Madrasa at Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj on Wednesday night. She was a resident student there.
Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex Dr Dwip Saha confirmed the rape incident on Thursday, saying: “The girl was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment as her physical condition deteriorated."
Evidence of rape was primarily found in the victim’s body, Dr Dwip added.
The survivor’s father, too, said that her daughter accused a madrasa teacher of this incident.
