The resorts and cottages in Sajek Valley are likely to remain closed from February 8 to 12 as President Mohammed Shahabuddin may visit the popular travel destination on those days.

The president’s visit will be confirmed within three days, said Baghaichari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shirin Akhter.

On the occasion of the president's visit to Sajek, a preparatory meeting was held to strengthen security measures at the destination.

Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan, Superintendent of Police Mir Abu Touhid and senior officials were present in the meeting.

Leaders of the Cottage and Resort Owners Association were also present at the time.

An office order signed by Protocol Officer of the President's Office Mamunul Haque to the deputy commissioner of Rangamati said that the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin will visit Sajek in Rangamati from February 10 to 12.

On this occasion, the president and his entourage have requested authorities to make arrangements for administrative, accommodation and necessary transport for their travel.

Earlier, President Mohammed Shahabuddin cancelled his five-day trip to Sajek considering the sufferings of businessmen and tourists.

He was scheduled to visit the popular tourist spot from December 18-22 last year.

Hence, all resorts and cottages were declared closed due to security reasons
