Academic activities of all primary and secondary level educational institutions have been declared closed as the season's lowest temperature of 9.1°C  was recorded in Bogra on Monday morning.

As the announcement was not made beforehand, many students and their parents had to wait outside the institutions and return home.

Meanwhile, the district education officer has announced the closure of secondary education institutions, whereas the primary education officer has specified that only academic activities will be halted.

The conflicting decisions have left parents confused.

Bogra District Education Officer Hazrat Ali said that according to the instructions of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, schools and madrasas have to remain closed as the temperature has fallen below 10°C.

The matter has been informed to the education officer of 12 upazilas of the district.

Bogra District Primary Education Officer Asaduzzaman Chowdhury said academic activities have been declared closed in all primary education institutions in the district as the temperature dropped below 10°C.

“Institutions will remain open, only teachers and other staff of the institution will come. This vacation is only for one day,” he added.

Nurul Islam, senior observer of the Bogra met office, said the minimum temperature in the district was recorded at 9.1°C at 6am on Monday. This is the lowest temperature of the season.
