2 killed in bus-microbus collision in Pabna

  • Three critically injured
  • Bus driver and his assistant fled

Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus in Ishwardi, Pabna on Saturday.

The incident took place in the Mirkamari Purbapara area of ​​Ishwardi Dashuria on the Kushtia-Natore highway at around 8:30am.

The deceased are Md Nasim, 45, son of Abdur Rauf of Sheikhpara area of ​​Ishwardi upazila and Amit Kundu,40, son of Surat Kumar of Radhanagar area of ​​Pabna city.

At least 10 persons were injured and three of them are in critical condition. The injured identities remain unknown.

Pabna Pakshi Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ashish Kumar Sanal said the passenger microbus going from Pabna towards Kushtia collided with a passenger bus named SN paribahan coming from the opposite direction. The injured were rushed to Pabna General Hospital, where doctors declared two of them dead.

The bus driver and his assistant managed to flee the scene. The damaged vehicles have been seized and taken into police custody. Legal action in this regard is under process, he added.
