Bhuiyanpur police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Hasibul Hasan, accused of assaulting a CNG auto-rickshaw driver for not having curtains in the vehicle in Tangail, has been withdrawn from his position.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhuiyanpur police station, Ahsan Ullah, confirmed the matter on Friday.

On Tuesday night, SI Hasibul Hasan made the driver undress and stand half-naked at the bus stand area because one side of the CNG auto-rickshaw used for patrolling did not have a curtain. Following the incident being reported to the workers' union, other drivers became agitated and protested.

After the news was published in the media, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarkar Mohammad Kaisar issued an order for his transfer. Later, on Friday, he was withdrawn and attached to the police lines.

OC Ahsan Ullah said: “On the instructions of the SP, SI Hasibul Hasan was withdrawn and attached to the police lines. He left the station on Friday afternoon.”
