Khulna district experienced light rain on Thursday morning which has helped farmers in overcoming the negative impact of foggy weather on their agricultural lands.
A mild cold wave had been sweeping for the last two weeks in Khulna region like the rest of the country. Some agricultural products including vegetables, seeds, mustard, and sunflowers were under threat due to this cold wave. These vegetable products were under negative impact due to foggy weather.
Kazi Jahangir Hossain, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), said that due to the ongoing cold wave, several vegetables including seedbeds, mustard, and sunflower were under threat. The fog was affecting their lands. But this light rain has helped farmers in this case.
However, if there was heavy rain, it would cause a lot of damage. It didn't happen. Boro paddy has benefited from light rains, said the DAE official.
The district experienced light rain from 9:30am to 11:30am and four millimitre rainfalls were recorded in Khulna.
Water had been accumulated in some low-lying areas of cities and villages.
Ignoring the rain and chilly weather, working and low-income people came out of their houses. The presence of easy bikes was higher than rickshaws on the roads of the metropolitan city.

Amirul Azad, in-charge of the Khulna regional meteorological office said that 4mm of rainfall was recorded in two-hour rain in the morning.
The sky will likely to remain cloudy on Friday as well.
The situation is likely to improve from Saturday, said the official.
He said the minimum temperature in Khulna was recorded at 12.5 °C on Thursday.
