3 suspected cattle thieves lynched in Pabna

Three suspected cattle thieves were killed in a lynch mob attack by the villagers at Betuyan village in Bhangura upazila in Pabna early Saturday.

The deceased could not be known immediately.

Nazmul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bhangura police station, confirmed the matter.

Quoting locals, the OC said that a group of people stole two cows from the house of one Golap Hossain at Oshtomonisha village of the upazila.

After stealing the cows, they were trying to flee the scene on a boat.

Sensing their presence, villagers chased them.

As they failed to catch them, they informed about the stealing incident to people and relatives of adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, a group of thieves tried to run away after seeing the people in Betuyan village. Later, the local people caught the three people and beat them up, leaving the trio dead on the spot.

Another thief managed to run away, said the thief.

On information, police recovered the bodies.
