4 BGB men on patrol duty ahead of polls injured in Bhola accident

Four members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on patrol duty before the election were injured as their vehicle met with an accident in Monpura upazila in Bhola on Thursday.

Among them, two were rescued and admitted to the 250-bed Bhola Sadar Hospital.

The accident took place around 5pm in the Beribandh area of North Sakuchia union, Kamrul Islam Zahir, officer-in-charge of Manpura police station, confirmed.

Among the injured, two BGB men were identified as Habildar Nuruzzaman and Sepoy Laxman.

Two others suffered minor injuries and went back to their barracks.

The OC said that two patrol teams of the Bangladesh Navy and BGB were performing election duty in Monpura upazila.

At around 5pm, the vehicle carrying the BGB patrol team broke down and fell into a roadside ditch in the Beribandh area.

Two of them were rescued by the navy patrol team and admitted to the hospital.
