A teenager was electrocuted to death while setting up a sound box during the celebration of New Year’s Eve in Gazipur’s Kaliganj.
The deceased has been identified as Miraj Hossain, 17.
The incident took place at around 8:45pm in his house in Tumlia union on Sunday.
Kaliganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahatab Uddin confirmed the matter.
Minhaj, the elder brother of the deceased, said that Miraj was electrocuted when he went to connect electricity to the sound box to organize a party on New Year’s Eve.
Locals rushed Miraj to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex at 9pm, where doctors declared him dead.
Kamal Hossain, sub-inspector of Kaliganj police station, said the body was handed over to the family members without autopsy as they did not file any complaints.
