It is a rare bird in our country, some of which were spotted in the Gohombna Beel in Rajshahi recently.

It mainly breeds in central Asia—Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia; Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and China.

Males boast a distinctive red head, contrasting with their brown body and black-streaked wings. This species is known for its elusive nature, making sightings a prized experience for birdwatchers.
