Two people, including the driver and helper, were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a trolley in the Natun Shikarpur area in Wazirpur upazila on the Barisal-Dhaka highway on Sunday morning.
The deceased are trolley driver Sohrab Kabiraj and his associate Rubel Howladar.
Wazirpur police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Zafar Ahmed said that the Sakura Paribahan bus, en route from Dhaka to Barisal, collided head-on with a trolley traveling in the opposite direction at the accident site. The trolley driver and his accomplice were killed instantly, while seven bus passengers sustained injuries as the bus overturned by the roadside.
Local resident Mahfuzur Rahman said that low visibility due to fog and the trolley driving through the middle of the highway contributed to the accident. The bus, traveling at high speed, collided with the trolley and subsequently struck a tree on the opposite side of the road, resulting in the trolley's damage.
