BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday brought out a procession in Comilla during the 12th phase of blockade called by the party.
The procession was held on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla.
During a brief rally after the procession, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said: "The looters of the Awami League have stolen the hard-earned money of the people of the country and smuggled it abroad. Now they are pouring that money into dummy votes.
“Some people have already lost their lives. They (Awami League) are carrying out sabotage and setting fire to vehicles in a planned way. And all this is being blamed on the opposition parties who are protesting for the restoration of democracy. This is an old habit of Awami League.”
Another road-rail-waterways blockade, called by BNP and like-minded opposition parties, is underway across Bangladesh.
The blockade began at 6am and will end at 6pm on Sunday.
The daylong blockade is meant to protest the schedule for the next national election announced by the Election Commission (EC).
The presence of public transport and commuters on Dhaka streets seemed normal, despite tension and fear of arson attacks.
