An on-duty Ansar member sustained severe injuries as a watchtower collapsed at Chittagong Port on Thursday.
The injured Ansar member is identified as Md Rajib.
The incident took place near gate number 5 of the port around 12pm on Thursday, said Md Omar Faruq, secretary of Chittagong Port Authority.
He said: "During the transportation of a KDS company truck trailer, a watchtower was struck, leading to its collapse, subsequently injuring the Ansar member. The injured was swiftly transported to our hospital for initial aid and subsequently referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).”
“Plans are underway to transfer him to Dhaka for further treatment if required," the secretary added.
