The Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday recorded the lowest temperature of this season at 10.3°C in Panchagarh.
Meteorologist Russel Shah of the BMD’s Tetulia office said the temperature was recorded in Tetulia around 9am.
“We recorded a temperature of 10.5°C at around 6am. Since the region is close to the Himalayas-Kanchenjunga mountains, winter is colder here.”
The temperature will drop further in the coming days, Russel said.
According to the BMD’s weather forecast, the weather will remain dry with partly cloudy skies across Bangladesh, and moderate to heavy fog is expected all over the country from midnight to morning.
The met office said a mild cold wave may sweep across some places in the western and northwestern regions of Bangladesh.
Night temperatures may drop slightly and day temperatures may remain almost unchanged, it added.
