The police detained four people, including three teenage boys, in Khulna on Wednesday afternoon on allegations of selling biryani cooked with dog meat instead of mutton.
A slaughtered dog was also recovered from an abandoned building of the local Khalishpur Polytechnic Institute.
All the detainees are residents of areas adjacent to the institute, Khalishpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Anwar Hossain said.
One of the arrestees was identified as Abu Syed, 37. He would cook and sell biryani on the streets at a low price.
According to the police and locals, for a month some youths would collect dogs from different places in the area and take them to the abandoned building, which raised suspicion.
On Wednesday afternoon, when local residents saw the four with a dog, they informed the police.
Later, police detained three teenage boys in this connection. Later, the man who cooked and sold biryani was held.
At that time, a slaughtered dog was found with its legs tied. Besides, the remains of several other dogs were found in the abandoned building.
