Miscreants have set fire to a courtroom of Paikgacha Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court in Khulna early Wednesday.
The docks for the accused and the sitting place of the lawyers were burnt in the incident.
Sources said that when people went to the mosques for Fajr prayers, they saw fire at Paikgacha Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court. Locals then brought the fire under control.
Khulna district Superintendent of Police Saidur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Al-Amin, Assistant Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam, Judicial Magistrate Anwarul Islam, and members of various intelligence agencies visited the scene and collected various evidences from the spot.
Additional law and order forces have been deployed in the court district.
District Superintendent of Police Saidur Rahman said that action will be taken after the investigation.
