Miscreants in the disguise of passengers set a bus ablaze in the Ashulia area in Savar upazila of Dhaka on Wednesday morning during a blockade called by the BNP.
Eyewitnesses and the fire service said a bus of Itihas Poribohon was set on fire in the Baraipara area while on the way from Chandra to Dhaka.
There were 10-12 passengers on the bus. Two of the miscreants sitting in the last row of the bus torched the vehicle before fleeing the spot.
The driver and other passengers soon saw smoke and extinguished the fire, but several seats of the bus were already burnt.
Zirabo Mordan Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Deputy Assistant Director Md Alauddin said the agency was informed of the arson attack, but the blaze was doused before they could reach the spot.
