Miscreants set fire to a passenger bus and vandalized another on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Akbar Shah and Dampara areas of Chittagong on Sunday night.
Mujibur Rahman, an eyewitness, said a moving passenger bus in the Akbar Shah area abruptly caught fire in the back. The passengers were safe to descend right away following the fire.
Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence Warehouse Inspector Shamsul Alam said that two fire service units went to the spot but the fire was extinguished before they reached. No one was injured in this incident.
Miscreants attempted to set fire to a Relax Paribahan bus in the Dampara area after smashing its windows. In this incident, Nazim Uddin, the bus driver’s helper was injured. The miscreants fled when locals came to the spot.
Khulshi police station Officer-in-Charge Rubel Howladar said the helper was sent to hospital for treatment.
