Miscreants set fire to a passenger bus of Yousuf Paribahan on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in the Chandra area of Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur on Sunday night.
Two units of the fire service reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
Kaliakair Fire Service official Ataur Rahman quoted the driver of the bus saying when the bus stopped in Chandra, eight-10 people passengers boarded the bus. Before crossing the Chandra flyover, a woman passenger started shouting. Seeing the fire after her screams, the passengers as well as the driver quickly got off the bus.
However, there were no casualties.
Kaliakair police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akbar Ali Khan said that the matter will be investigated and necessary action will be taken.
