Police have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in stealing oil from the newly-built Bangladesh-India Maitree Pipeline in Dinajpur’s Chrirbandar.
The leak was identified in Chok Isobpur area under Fateh Jongpur Union on Friday morning.
The arrestees are Nazmul Huq, 65, Aminul Islam, 48, Manik Shah, 45, and Jahangir Alam, 27, Officer-in-Charge of Chirirbandar police station Bazlur Rashid said.
The four have been kept in custody for interrogation, he added.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Shakil Ahmed and UNO AKM Shariful Haque visited the area when the matter came to light in the morning.
The 130-kilometre pipeline between the two countries was built at an estimated cost of ₹377 crore. It was inaugurated on March 18 this year.
The pipeline carries diesel from Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Ltd's (NRL) marketing terminal at Siliguri in West Bengal to the Parbatipur depot of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC). It has a capacity to transport one million ton of High-Speed Diesel (HSD).
