A bus assistant was stabbed to death allegedly by a man and his family over a fare dispute in Pabna on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Zubair Rahman, 25.
Police have detained one person over the incident that took place on the Pabna to Narsingdi route.
The detainee has been identified as Maruf Hossain Sumon, 40.
Quoting the deceased's family, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar police station Raushan Ali said the passenger's family got into an argument with the supervisor and the assistant over bus fare. “When the bus stopped in Pabna, one of the family members stabbed the bus assistant.”
Locals rescued him to Pabna General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Legal action in this regard is under process.
