Miscreants set fire to a tin-shed room of a government primary school in Bormi union under Sreepur upazila of Gazipur early Sunday.
Unidentified miscreants set the tin-shed room of Gilashawar Late A Jabbar Government Primary School on fire this morning.
Masudul Karim Tipu, the headmaster of the school confirmed the matter.
Noticing the blaze, locals rushed to the spot and put it out within a short time. The fire left a few benches, fans, windows and surrounding fences burnt.
Abul Fazal Md Nasim, officer-in-charge of Sreepur police station, said it could not be immediately known who set fire to the school room.
An investigation was underway to identify the accused involved with the incident, he said, adding that efforts are on to nab the arsonists.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tariqul Islam among other offficials visited the school.
