  • Cyclone Midhili weakened into deep depression
  • Rain to continue

Update : 17 Nov 2023, 10:21 PM

Daily life has been interrupted by Cyclone Midhili throughout the southern region, including Barisal, due to the rainy and unfavourable weather.

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has halted the movement of water vessels due to the cyclone, Deputy Director of BIWTA and Barisal River Port Officer Abdur Razzak said on Friday.

He said that vessel movement has been halted since morning due to signal number 2 at the river port.

However, now that the inclement weather is becoming more severe, all types of passenger vessels, including launches, have been ordered to stop the movement of all types of passenger vessels on the inland routes. The directive will remain in force until further notice, he added.

Cyclone Midhili has crossed the coast, weakened into a deep depression, and is moving towards Patuakhali.

The four seaports are advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three, replacing the previous signals seven and six.

However, heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds persists over North Bay, coastal areas, and seaports.
