  • Heavy rainfall to persist

Update : 17 Nov 2023, 07:18 PM

Cyclone Midhili has crossed the coast, weakened into a deep depression, and is moving towards Patuakhali.

The four seaports are advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three, replacing the previous signals seven and six.

However, heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds persists over North Bay, coastal areas, and seaports.

According to the special weather bulletin, Cyclone Midhili was previously in the North-West Bay of Bengal, has moved north-northeast, crossed the coast, and weakened into a deep depression over Patuakhali and nearby areas. It is expected to continue moving further northeast inland, gradually weakening while causing rain.

Maritime ports of Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist danger signal number seven, while Chittagong and Cox's Bazar seaports are advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three.

All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay are advised to remain in shelter until further notice.
