Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested BNP convener of Feni Sheikh Farid Uddin Bahar from West Vijay Singh area in the suburb on Tuesday.
He was transferred to Feni Model police station at night.
RAB-7 Feni Camp Company Commander Squadron Leader Mohammad Sadequl Islam said: “Sheikh Farid Uddin Bahar has been arrested in the case of sabotage.”
Feni Model police station Inspector (Investigation) Mahfuzur Rahman said: “There are multiple cases against Sheikh Farid Uddin Bahar. He will be produced before the court on Wednesday.”
District BNP Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal expressed anger at the incident and said that Bahar was arrested to suppress the movement.
Meanwhile, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi strongly condemned the arrest.
