The grand rally in Khulna, scheduled to be addressed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is underway.
The rally started with a recitation from the holy Quran at around 11:50am.
Thousands of people have filled up the Khulna Circuit House ground to see the prime minister.
The roads in the city have been comparatively empty since morning. Law enforcement agencies were seen on the rally ground and roads nearby to provide security.
Leaders of the local Awami League and its affiliates organization are currently delivering speeches at the rally.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Khulna by helicopter at 12:45pm. She landed at the helipad built at the district stadium.
According to the district administration, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to hold a meeting with divisional level officials at the Circuit House from 1pm to 2pm.
Then she will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects at the Circuit House ground at 2:45pm.
Later, the premier will join the rally organized by the district Awami League.
Khulna City Awami League President and KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque will preside over the rally.
The premier will inaugurate 22 development projects at Khulna’s Circuit House.
A total of 20 digital screens are being installed in the metropolis around the public rally area so people can see Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina delivering her speech.
