The incident occurred when a RAB patrol was attacked late Sunday night, leading to the filing of a case against 42 individuals at Ukhiya police station with RAB as the plaintiff.

According to the press release issued by Cox's Bazar district BNP President Shahjahan Chowdhury and General Secretary Advocate Shamim Ara Sapna, the residence of BNP General Secretary of Ukhiya upazila Sultan Mahmud Chowdhury was raided by RAB, police, and armed activists affiliated with Awami League. In response to the incident, BNP leaders announced a hartal in Cox's Bazar district on Wednesday, protesting the indiscriminate firing by law enforcement forces on leaders and activists engaged in democratic movements.
