A total of 128 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists were detained by police until Tuesday over the recent hartal and blockade by the opposition BNP.
Approximately 600 people have been charged in 14 cases filed over the recent arson and vandalism.

According to ASP Redwan Ahmed, 95 people have been detained from various places in seven cases during blockade and hartal.
Most of them have been accused of throwing cocktails at police cars, setting fire to buses and being involved in the killing of policemen in Dhaka.
Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) Commissioner Saiful Islam said that 33 people were taken into custody in seven cases across four police stations within the Barisal Metropolitan area.
“We are investigating these cases, If proven, they will face dire consequences,” he added.
Barisal Metropolitan BNP Convener Zia Uddin Sikdar said that police are conducting house searches and even making arrests while people are going for a morning walk.
According to a BNP source, in addition to past cases, the police are accusing numerous innocent people in different cases lodged against unnamed accused. Police are also taking money while releasing the unnamed accused.
