At least seven people were killed and several others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run autorickshaw in the Charia area under Hathazari upazila of Chittagong on Tuesday.
The victims -- three children, three women and a man -- were unidentified at the time of writing.
Hathazari and Nazirhat highway police as well as the fire service promptly responded to the incident to recover the bodies.
Nazirhat highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Adil Mahmud told Dhaka Tribune the autorickshaw had been on its way Bhatiari to Fatikchhari via Baradighi and the bus from Fatikchhari to Chittagong city.
The collision occurred when the three-wheeler was near Charia Board Govt Primary School in the area, resulting in the death of all those aboard the autorickshaw, he added.
"It is assumed that all the victims are members of the same family and were on their way to Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif."
Meanwhile, the injured were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment.
