The Tangail Bus Coach-Minibus Owners Association has announced plans to run public transport in Tangail and all over the country, including Dhaka, amid the blockade called by the BNP. They said that all types of trucks would also move, ignoring the blockade.

In this regard, they have asked the administration for general cooperation regarding the safety of vehicles while moving on the highway.

This announcement was made at the exchange meeting between the police and the Tangail District Bus Coach and Minibus Owner-Workers at the Tangail new bus terminal on Monday.

The workers association agreed to run public transport as per the decision made Monday afternoon.

Bus Coach Minibus Owners Association General Secretary Golam Kibria Baramoni said: “BNP-Jamaat is committing arson in the name of the blockade. The public transport owners and workers are in trouble because of this.”

Superintendent of Police Sarkar Mohammad Qaiser of Tangail said: “The police will provide special security for the transport. A separate mobile number has been launched only for the security of public transport.”

Meanwhile, on the second day of the blockade called by BNP, excluding the long-distance passenger buses, vehicles were seen plying on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway since morning.
