A private car inside the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel in Chittagong was hit by a speeding bus at around 8:30pm on Friday.
Tanvir Rifat, assistant engineer (toll and traffic) of the Bangabandhu Tunnel, said that the bus rear-ended the private car as they were both headed from Patenga to Anwara within the tunnel, causing significant damage to the car.
However, the car's occupant only sustained minor injuries. Both vehicles involved in the incident have been recovered, and authorities are taking action, he added.
Earlier on October 31 night, an accident's video went viral on social media. The video captures a passenger bus speeding through the tunnel, closely tailing a white private car. Later, the bus driver lost control and collided with the car, resulting in severe damage to the rear of the private car. Security personnel at the tunnel subsequently seized both vehicles.
