A local leader of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the opposition BNP, was arrested along with a gun and ammunition in Jangal Salimpur, Sitakunda upazila, Chittagong, on Tuesday.
The arrestee is Shafiqul Islam Sohel, president of the ward No 6 unit of Jubo Dal under Salimpur union.
Tofayel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda police station, said police arrested him in the evening as he was wanted in several cases filed over sabotage.
Police also seized a shutter gun and five bullets from his possession, he added.
