Tickets for Dhaka-bound trains via Padma Bridge now available in Khulna

  • Expected to carry 700 passengers 
  • Will significantly reduce travel time

Tickets for the Dhaka-bound trains departing from Khulna via the Padma Bridge are being sold at Khulna since Saturday.

The 10-coach train is expected to depart from Khulna on Wednesday, and will accommodate over 700 passengers.

Khulna Railway Station Master Md Masud Rana said the Sundarbans Express train will leave for Dhaka at 10:45pm on Wednesday via Padma Bridge. 

The train currently travels via Jamuna Bridge, but travelling via the Padma Bridge is expected to significantly reduce travel time.

Rafiqul Islam, a passenger who bought a ticket for the train, said that the counter of Khulna station was empty on Sunday, so he did not face any problems getting the tickets.

Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman, president of the Greater Khulna Development Struggle Coordination Committee, said that as part of the benefits of Padma Bridge, a milestone has been created in the train journey.
