Another phase of trials began on the Dhaka-Mawa section of the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project on Wednesday.
Throughout the day, the experimental train will run four times on the Dhaka-Mawa route, with speeds ranging from 60kmph-120kmph, as per authorities.
The journey started from Munshiganj's Mawa station to Dhaka's Gendaria station at around 8:30am, with the train operating at a speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour.
Following this, the train is slated to travel from Gandaria to Mawa at a speed of 80km per hour.
Brigadier General Ahmed Jamiul Islam, the manager of the Dhaka-Mawa section of the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project, said that the experimental train's purpose is to assess speeds before the official commencement of commercial train operations. The trial aims to gauge operational feasibility and safety measures before regular train services begin.
