A sub-inspector of Khagrachhari police has been sent to jail in a case filed over the rape of a 10-year-old school girl.
The accused policeman is Lokman, 48, C-Store in charge of the district police lines.
Bidhan Kanungo, public prosecutor of Khagrachhari court, confirmed the matter.
A female police officer, Sadia Akhter, also attached to the police lines, filed the case at Khagrachhari Sadar model police station on October 7.
According to the case statement, Lokman forcibly took the child to a narrow alley when she was on her way to school and raped her.
However, two relatives of the accused policeman alleged that the plaintiff and her husband had an enmity with Lokman, and they filed a false case against him using the child.
They also raised questions about the filing of the case 15-17 days after the incident.
They said Lokman will be proved innocent if there is a fair investigation.Rap
In this regard, Khagrachhari Superintendent of Police Mukta Dhar said no one is above the law. A case has been filed, the investigation is ongoing, the SP added.
