A couple was crushed to death after a mud wall of their home collapsed on them amid heavy rain in Gazipur's Kaliakair upazila early on Friday.
The deceased were Emarat Hossain, 60, and his wife Aasia Begum, 50. Relatives of the deceased and nearby people recovered their bodies on Friday morning.
Kaliakair police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akbur Ali Khan confirmed the matter.
He said, quoting locals, that the mud walls of the couple’s house had weakened due to continuous downpours for the past few days in the Ratanpur area.
The house collapsed on them when they were asleep, leaving the two dead on the spot, he added.
