Met office forecasts rain across Bangladesh

  • Temperatures may remain unchanged
  • Highest rainfall recorded at Teknaf

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted light to moderate rain across most parts of the country in a weather forecast for the next 24 hours starting at 9am on Tuesday.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country", said the forecast by the met office.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.

The country's maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 35° at Chandpur and the minimum temperature was recorded on Tuesday 24° at Bandarban.

The country's highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am on Tuesday was recorded 68mm at Teknaf.

The well-marked low over Gangetic West Bengal and the adjoining area now lies over East Madhya Pradesh and the adjoining area as a low-pressure area. The axis of the monsoon trough runs through East Uttar Pradesh, central of the low, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. 

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
