A local Awami League (AL) leader was stabbed to death in an attack by miscreants in Lalpur upazila of Natore on Sunday morning.
The deceased, Osman Goni, 40, was general secretary of ward-5 unit of Awami League, in Kadimchilan union parishad of the upazila.
Locals and police said that miscreants stabbed him with sharp weapons when he came out of his house in the Dangachilan area around 8am, leaving him dead on the spot.
The Awami League leader was the prime accused in the former Union Parishad Chairman Abdur Razzaque murder case and he had enmity with former Union Parishad Member Rezaur, they said.
Confirming the murder, Lalpur police station’s Officer-in-Charge Ujjal Hossain said additional police personnel were deployed in the area to maintain law and order situation.
