Two cases have been filed against 700 leaders and activists of BNP in connection with Saturday’s clash between BNP and police at Sayestanagar in Habiganj which left over 150 people injured.
Habiganj Sadar Model police station sub-inspectors Khorshed Alam and Wazed Gazi filed the two cases against 700 leaders and activists of BNP on Monday, said Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Badiuzzaman.
Sub Inspector Khorshed Alam filed a police assault case, listing 97 individuals while Sub Inspector Wazed Gazi filed a case under the Explosives Subtance Act, naming 90 individuals, he added.
Senior joint convener of Habiganj District unit BNP and former municipality mayor GK Gaus was accused in the two cases.
According to the case statement, over 150 people including the Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge Ajay Chandra Deb, and nine other policemen were injured in a clash between BNP leaders and activists and police centring BNP’s road march program at Sayestanagar on Saturday.
So far, 17 people have been arrested, said OC Badiuzzaman.
