Three people including the helper and supervisor of the Prochesta Paribahan bus were detained on the charge of raping a madrasa student who was a passenger of the transport.
The police rescued the student from the helper's rented house in Kapuria town in Bhanga on Monday morning.
The detainees are Asif Sardar, 21, helper Rakib Matubbar Iman, 24, and his mother Lily Begum, 50.
On Sunday evening, the madrasa student of Faridpur's Bhanga upazila was returning home via Padma Bridge from Dhaka.
Her parents lodged a complaint with police at midnight after she did not reach the bus stand where they were waiting for her.
Confirming the information, Bhanga police station Officer-in-Charge Ziarul Islam said that the victim has been sent to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital, Faridpur for medical examination and treatment.
In this incident, the victim's father filed a case of kidnapping and rape at Bhanga police station on Monday evening. Later, the police detained the three.
The victim’s brother-in-law said that he got her on to the bus at Babu Bazar area. He also took the phone numbers of the helper and supervisor of the bus. Later, he found their phone turned off as well as the victim’s. Unable to trace her, they filed the case at about 3am.
In this regard, the duty officer of Bhanga police station SI Jewel said that after receiving a verbal complaint at around 3am, the police took the family members of the missing student along with them and started the operation.
Bus supervisor Asif Sardar was detained in the morning. On his information, helper Rakib's house was raided and the student was rescued. Three people involved in the incident were detained. A case of kidnapping and rape has been filed in the police station after finding the truth in the preliminary investigation, he added.
