Three people of a family, a couple and their son, were killed and 25 others were injured in a three-way collision between two buses and a truck on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway at Borderhat in Pirganj, Rangpur.
The deceased is Al Amin,35, and his son Mahin, 5, died on the spot. Al Amin's wife Mitali Begum was seriously injured. She died on the way to hospital.
Baradarga Highway Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mujibur Rahman confirmed the matter and said two buses have been seized but the driver and helper fled the scene.
According to the police, an accident occurred involving a bus from Anindya Paribahan traveling from Bogra to Kurigram and a bus from Ena Paribahan heading from Kurigram to Dhaka. Following the collision, the bus from Anindya Paribahan struck a truck on the roadside, resulting in all vehicles overturning into a nearby ditch.
The police and fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the deceased and rescued the injured and admitted them to Upazila Health Complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Six of the injured are in critical condition.
Upazila Fire Service station in-charge Ratan Sharma said that they have rescued the deceased and injured and sent them to the hospital in their own ambulance.
