Two leaders of the Swechchasebak League, an affiliate of the ruling Awami League, suffered bullet wounds in an attack allegedly carried out by the rival faction.
The injured are Nazmul Hasan Orange, 28, assistant secretary for literature and cultural affairs, and Minhaj Hossain Apel, 28, ward committee leader.
Quoting witnesses, police said Orange and Apel were shot around 8pm by five to six men on two motorcycles. The duo was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.
Officer-in-Charge Selim Reza (OC) of Bogra police station said Orange and Apel were shot due to rivalry between two groups in the Swechchasebak League.
“One of the attackers was Russell of the rival group of the Swechchasebak League. Raids are underway to arrest the perpetrators,” the OC added.
